The Weekend Is Right Around the Corner!

I love Fridays but more then that, I love labor day weekend! Labor day weekend is kind of like the last hurrah of the summer and that's exactly what this weekend is going to be for me. Let me break it down for you:

Saturday

CU vs. CSU game
It's in Denver at Mile High where the Broncos play and it's televised
This is the big rivalry of Colorado...even though CU wins hands down so it's not much of a rivalry when you know you're better ;)
GO BUFFS!

Sunday

The president is coming to campus!!!
So excited to hear him speak!
Got tickets today...Brennen can't go because he has to work but my parents are coming with me and it should be a really good time.
Psyched!

Obama at CU last time he was here

Monday

Going to Elitches with Brennen, Ryan, and Amber
Last weekend to go before they close the water park
It is the PERFECT way to end the summer
Pretty excited about this one too

Such an amazing weekend coming up. I hope you guys enjoy your labor day weekend as well! What are your plans for the weekend?

**90 Day Challenge Update**
I worked out again today (duh, you work out every day) and it slayed me. So incredibly challenging!
I'm not sure I've done well as far as food goes though because I haven't found a time in my schedule to eat! There's just no time in between classes!
I know I'll get the hang of things, I've just got to stick it out

Have a fun and safe weekend!

Obama Is Coming To CU!!

Okay, okay so I know this is about politics and that is something I try to stay clear of BUT President Obama is coming to campus to speak to us! Whether or not I'm an Obama supporter is kind of a moot point because really, it's just awesome to see a sitting president speak at the school!

It's Sunday, September 2nd and I am beyond excited! He came to speak a couple months ago but I was working and couldn't make it (and was really bummed). So he must of known how disappointed I was so he came around for round 2!

I'll definitely post pictures, in case you'd like to see :)

Today is the day to Link Up!

Hello, hello, hello!

This blog is just a baby so if you read (&enjoy) the few posts that I've posted so far, let me know! Feel free to let me know what's not so great too. I'm so new at this and am trying my very best! I would LOVE some followers and some awesome blogs to follow! So shoot some advice or kind words my way and I'd love to get to know whoever is out there!

Happy Tuesday!

Back To School!

Yesterday was the first day back to school! I'm not overly thrilled, I'll be honest. My schedule isn't too bad though. I have two classes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and then three classes Tuesday and Thursdays but those are longer. Plus I have work Tuesdays and Fridays when I get out of class.

One of my classes today is with my boyfriend Brennen so that'll be nice to actually see him because otherwise, I wouldn't see him at all today!

Although it will be kind of a crazy day today (and all Tuesdays), it should be a good day. Today is my first shift moving from working doors to working check out. Eeek! I'm kinda nervous.

     Anyway, Happy Tuesday!

Oh and just so you can see what I look at every day here in Boulder...

What makes your campus beautiful? I'd love to see pics!

Blogging at Starbucks!

Hello fellow bloggers! Today I am enjoying a Vanilla Bean Frap at Starbucks in downtown Denver. I'm wearing my cute little hat and having a fun time and definitely enjoying this luxurious and rare drink. I'm hanging out with my mama in Denver for the rest of the day and going to a tasting in one of our Colorado communities with my parents later tonight. Can't wait for all the yummy food!
Hope y'all are having as good of a day as I am! Au Revoir!

My Beautiful, Crazy Life

I just came across Me, Myself, and I Linky Partay on this blog. Seems like lots of fun, so lets give it a whirl!

1. What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
I would be an actress or the CEO of Disney. I'm going to school now so I can be a producer for Disney. Guess I'm going after the dream after all, even if it means I can fail.
"Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game."
-Babe Ruth

2. If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?

I'd spend all my time with my family and I would try to travel with them as much as possible. I want to see as much of the world as I can before I kick the bucket :)

3. If a front page news article was written on you, what would the headline be?

College Girl Produces Oscar Winning Movie
(Ahhhh, I wish)

4. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Is it sad that I don't have a "biggest pet peeve" but a few pet peeves that are all on the same level? To name a few: men whistling at me/other women on the street, friends stealing my clothes, and people who can't stop talking long enough for you to say anything.

5. What is your favorite chick flick movie?
Titanic. Gets me every time.

Gluten Free Goddess To Be

My best friend is being tested for Celiac Disease. I've been reading up on it since she told me (which wasn't very long ago so by no means am I educated in it at all) but I've discovered that there are gluten-free options popping up everywhere! My bestie, Alicia, told me that if you cut gluten down or out of your diet, it's likely that you'll feel better and no longer bogged down.

Anyway, I don't think that I'm willing to give up certain foods that contain gluten, I would like to cut it down significantly. I've also found that a lot of the gluten-free recipes are also dairy-free which is quite convenient since I'm lactose intolerant.

So! I'm going to go the Barnes and Noble and pick up a couple cookbooks but I've also come across a couple of blogs to get me started and I can't wait to try them out!

Click here for my favorite blog posts out of the ones I've found.

Happy Eating (Gluten-Free)!

Roommate Troubles? Read on!

One of the great and sometimes not so great things about college is that you live with a roommate. It's nice because you can live with your friends and you split the bills with someone else. It's not so nice because you live with your friends. But there are ways to work around issues, negotiate, and navigate your way to a happy living situation.

I only have one roommate. We live in an apartment. (I'll write a separate post for dorm living) I've lived with more roommates but find that I enjoy having just one much more. Here are a couple of systems and "rules" we've come up with. Also, some tips for choosing a good roommate (even if you haven't met them).

1. Quiet Hours
My roommate is a music major. Sometimes she wants to practice in her room. I'm a film major. Sometimes I watch movie in my room. She would be constantly asking me to turn the tv down. It became a problem for me because it would be in the afternoon and I had it on the level I needed it on to be able to hear it. She one time even asked me and my boyfriend to keep it down because we were laughing too loud. Ridiculous. Thankfully, we came up with quiet hours. 10am-11pm. Really simple and we haven't had a problem yet.

2. Report Back
This is something that our college (University of Colorado at Boulder) recommended to everyone from the time we moved here. Tell your roommate when you're leaving, where you're going, and when you should be back. That way, if you're not and don't text or call, your roommate knows something may be wrong and to try to locate you. **This is really important for girls.

3. Learn To Split Bills
My roommate wanted to break down individual days for things like internet but that's ridiculous. We were using the same amount of electricity and internet and cable (the only bills we pay) so it only makes sense to split in half.

4. Buy Separate Groceries
Some people buy their groceries together or "share" groceries. I've had three different roommates and it never worked out with any of them. Someone always thinks someone is taking more than they are or lines are crossed and someone eats an entire box of power bars while someone is out of town *cough*. So just buy separate groceries. If you buy similar things, write your names on them. It could work out to share groceries just not in my experience.

5. Be Courteous
This includes cleaning up after yourself, always keep common areas clean, and take turns unloading the dishwasher and taking out the trash. Also, if you have a boyfriend/girlfriend make sure that it's okay with them that they spend the night or something. Make sure that it's okay if you're drinking with your friends in the place, that they know or have been asked.

6. Be Direct, Be Honest
This one is more directed at girls. Don't avoid each other and text other friends about each other behind their backs. And definitely don't talk about them with other people either on the phone or in person in your room. I haven't personally had this situation but know people who have and it just turns in to a blowout. Remember: You have signed a lease with this person. You are stuck with them until said lease is over. So be KIND!

7. Don't Go In Each Other's Rooms Without Permission
Another common courtesy. One of my roommates used to steal clothes from me and then wear them in front of me claiming she bought them herself and that our wardrobes are just similar. Still trying to get clothes back from that biotch.

8. Try To See Each Other at Lease Once a Day
It's nice to catch up on each others days with one another. You get to see how they are and it's a good time to bring things up like "hey, when you put the vacuum away, can you wrap up the cord". Or "what are you doing this weekend? Wanna see a movie or something?"

9. More Bonding Time
Try to watch a movie or bake something together or if you're guys, drink a beer or watch the game together. It's just nice to have the connection.

10. Help Out When You Can
My roommate is out of state and doesn't have a car so before I go to the grocery store, I ask her if she needs to go because it bites to have to drag those heavy bags back to our apartment.

So there are some of my tips! Just be kind, courteous, and patient and you should be fine :) Happy living!

The Two Shameful Ways College Kids Acquire Stuff For Free

Music:

A student from University of Colorado at Boulder, thusly known as CU, created this site. It's called This Song is Sick. The music on there isn't for everyone but it's worth checking out. 99% of the songs are free and if they aren't, you can listen to it anyway. There's also a link to itunes for the songs.

Movies, TV Shows, Comic Books, Books, Audio Books, Music Albums, Individual Songs, And More

So this is what the shameful in the title was referring to because I'm introducing you to a website that is, well...pirating. Hence, the websites name: thepriatebay. Pretty much search it, and it's yours. If you're downloading someone from it, click on it and it will tell you if it's been scanned and says that it's safe (to avoid viruses on your computer) and as always, you want to choose a download that has more seeders then leachers. Honestly, I use this all the time. It's absolutely amazing. I know, I know, not exactly ethical but when you're pretty much living on Top Ramen and looking for quarters on the ground to do laundry, it's a pretty good alternative to just staring at the walls because you can't afford movies and books. After all, text books are expensive enough.

Pizza Rolls and Sex and the City Reruns

During the summer, I like to have lazy days. They don't exist during the school year so during the summer, I feel no guilt whatsoever in indulging in these fabulously relaxing days. I've browsed the internet and eaten pizza rolls. I've watched literally hours of Sex and the City and I've texted Brennen.

Best of all, I've stayed in my t-shirt, boy shorts, and glasses without a trace of makeup on my face. My apartment could be getting cleaned right now but I'm being rather self indulgent and I'm good with that.

Schedule of a College Kid

Tonight

Dinner with Brennen
Brennen and I attempt to clean the apartment
Moving more of Brennen's stuff to the new house
Probably some drinking
And hopefully, to bed at a decent (before 2am) time

Friday

Work 2-6
Dinner
Bars at Pearl Street with the guys

Saturday

Watch the boys practice for their softball league with Amber
Move more stuff to the new house. The perks of being a college kid, you get to move constantly. Alright, so it's definitely not a perk.
Most likely more drinking.

Sunday

Moving Brennen's sister Haley into her new apartment
Dinner with his parents
Going home to pick up my car
Victoria Secret After Hours Shopping Event with Mama

The Wild Ones

I think it's best to start this off with explaining who the people in the picture are. I'm on the far right. The rest of these people are some of my best friends. My boyfriend, Brennen, is the boy with the black shirt and black hat making a goofy face. These people (among others) have shaped my college life and college experience that I will one day look back on. We're in New Mexico for the NCAA when our school (University of Colorado at Boulder or CU) made it to the conference. We're all fairly intoxicated and entirely happy. We had all watched the game that determined the basketball team's fate the night before and then picked up and left to go support the team.

This trip was a once in a lifetime trip and I love these people. These are the wild ones.
